Pupils and staff at St Mary's Catholic Primary School, Newton Aycliffe, have enjoyed a wonderful week of Harvest celebrations, taking time to reflect on the importance of gratitude, generosity and supporting others.

On Wednesday, the school community gathered for a special celebration of thanks, giving thanks to God for the many blessings in their lives and marking the Harvest season together.

The celebrations continued this morning with a visit from Vicky of St. Claire’s Food Bank, who spoke to pupils about the important work the organisation does to support people across the local community. Children learned how donations help families in need and the difference that acts of kindness can make.

A student leader also helped Vicky pack the generous donations collected by the school. The contributions from pupils, families and staff will help support the food bank’s ongoing work and provide practical assistance to those who need it most.

St Mary's Catholic Primary School would like to thank everyone who donated items as part of the Harvest collection. The fantastic response from the school community highlighted the values of compassion and service that are at the heart of school life.

Through their generosity and support, pupils have helped make a positive difference in the lives of others, demonstrating the true spirit of Harvest.
