There was plenty to celebrate for St Mary's Catholic Primary School in Newton Aycliffe as the school's Year 5 and Year 6 football team achieved an impressive runners-up finish in the Shield competition at Shildon FC.
The team demonstrated great spirit, skill and determination throughout the competition, representing the school with pride and showing a fantastic attitude in every match.
What makes the achievement even more remarkable is the progress the players have made together in a short period of time. Having played their first game as a team just four weeks ago, they have already developed significantly, with improvements in teamwork, confidence and overall performance clear to see.
The competition provided an excellent opportunity for the children to put their hard work into practice, and their commitment was rewarded with a place in the final standings as Shield runners-up.
Everyone at St Mary's is incredibly proud of what the team has achieved. Their success reflects not only their footballing ability but also the way they have worked together, supported one another and continued to develop as a team.
Finishing runners-up is a fantastic accomplishment, and with the progress they have already made, the future looks bright for this talented group of young footballers. This achievement is an encouraging step on what promises to be an exciting journey ahead.
